Ross Day

Ross Day is currently the Director of Legal Affairs for Oregonians in Action, the largest private-property rights group of its kind in the nation.  Ross joined Oregonians In Action in January of 2003.

Ross is a graduate of Willamette University's College of Law, where he earned academic honors, including Dean's List and Moot Court Board. While working towards his law degree, Ross served as legislative assistant to State Representative (now State Senator and Republican Leader) Roger Beyer.  Previously, Ross served as the legislative director for the Majority Office in the Oregon House of Representatives during the 1997 legislative session. During the 104th Congress, Ross served as legislative assistant to U.S. Congressman Jim Bunn. Ross has a Master of Arts degree in Political Management from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Oregon State University and is currently an adjunct professor of political science at Chemeketa Community College in Salem.

Ross entered private practice immediately after graduating from law school as an associate with O’Donnell & Clark in Portland, Oregon. His practice emphasized land use law, takings litigation, election law, and civil rights litigation, in addition to representing his clients before the Oregon Legislature and numerous administrative agencies. Ross has authored articles ranging from the Oregon Courts’ attacks on the initiative system to the inequalities of Oregon’s land use system.

while at oregonians in action ross has litigated cases ranging from property rights, defense of free speech, and numerous state and federal constitutional issues.  In addition, ross is a co-author of ballot measure 37, the landmark property rights measure passed by the voters of oregon in 2004.

Ross was appointed in 2001 to the Oregon Capital Planning Commission by Governor John Kitzhaber. He was a member of Keizer’s Planning and Development Commission from 2000 through 2004.

The Day family are members of the First Presbyterian Church of Salem.  Ross is married to Shelley, and they have two sons, Jess and Logan and a daughter, Audrey.
